Biometrics in the Movie "The Island"

Facial recognition in public spaces!

In the movie, "The Island" starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson includes an interesting scene that uses biometrics to track down our fugitive clones!  The action centers around the covert ops team attempting to find our stars in Los Angeles.  A techie operative states that they "tapped into" the city street cameras.  Then you see a computer drawing squares around potential targets and matching them against the suspects using facial recognition.  Soon, our unaware suspects get caught on camera and our identified.  An unrealistic part about this scene is that the match probability is over 90% (don't remember exact number) while facial recognition is actually only 50-60% reliable.  It is critical for IT managers to realistically understand the capabilities of biometrics technology as they are the current "silver bullet" fad for the hollywood fantasy engine.
